Welcome to the website of Nick Fletcher, an award-winning author and journalist.

Nick is the author of twelve books, both fiction and non-fiction, and best-known are his series of crime novels and short-story collections featuring his journalist-turned-private detective Max Slater, who takes inspiration from his own fictional hero Philip Marlowe, the iconic private eye created by Raymond Chandler.

Nick is also the author of several books on antiques and collecting, having once worked as an antiques dealer, auctioneer and valuer, often appearing on radio and television, and writing hundreds of syndicated newspaper and magazine features.

He has also published two volumes of poetry focussing on love and relationships, Dark Heart and Lost Avenues.

Born and raised in Shropshire, Nick now lives on the South Devon coast where he continues to write, lecture and host writing courses.
